IUPUI will provide lunch both days, as well a reception with a cash bar Friday night.
Detailed information about timing and locations from our hosts follows.
Thursday, September 9
I hope everyone has made lodging arrangements by now. The special rate at University Place Hotel and Conference Center has expired, but there may still be some rooms available. If you have problems and need advice about nearby alternatives, please contact me at the email address below. For those staying at University Place and driving in for the meeting, be aware that there is underground parking for overnight guests at a rate of $18 per day. That means cool and protected space, and though it sounds like a lot by Indianapolis standards, it isn’t much more than 24 hours of accumulated rates at the IUPUI parking garage next door.
Conference materials will be available for pickup at the beginning of the meeting on Friday. If you need adaptive or mobility accommodations, please let me know in advance.
If you’re arriving by 6:00 or 6:30 and interested in joining others for dinner, please let me know by September 4 and I’ll make reservations at either the hotel sports bar or someplace else very close.
Friday, September 10
Friday meetings are in the IUPUI Campus Center (diagonally across the street from University Place Hotel), where there are two or three convenient locations to pick up coffee, tea, and snacks as you need them during meeting breaks. There’s a Starbuck’s in the ground-floor Barnes and Noble bookstore, an Outtakes for cold items mid-building on the ground floor, and a Caribou Coffee on the second floor. You can also have a full breakfast in the hotel or pick up something simple to bring from Artisans coffee shop just off the hotel lobby.
The primary meeting room is on the third floor, Campus Center 307; the atrium escalators are quite visible, but elevators are tucked in an alcove in the middle of the building, and signage in the facility is good. We have reserved the IUPUI Faculty Club for lunch—back across the street in University Place Conference Center. If for some reason you plan not to have lunch with the group, I need to know so I have an accurate count for food quantity. Please also let me know if you have any dietary restrictions we should be aware of (not only for this lunch but for all food-service functions).
Following the close of our afternoon meeting, at 5:00 p.m., we’ve arranged a reception on the fourth floor of the Campus Center. There will be a cash bar, but otherwise both the Friday luncheon and the reception are sponsored by the IUPUI Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs office. We have made dinner reservations for 7:00 p.m. at Chancellor’s in University Place Hotel. Again, if you have made other plans and won’t be able to join the group for dinner, please let me know so my reservation count is accurate. (Dinner will be at your own expense, but Chancellor’s is reasonably priced for its very good quality.)
Saturday, September 11
Saturday meetings will be in the IUPUI University Library, a short walk from the hotel in the heart of the campus (we’ll have campus maps in your meeting folders). You may want to pick up a beverage to bring with you in the morning (from Artisans or one of the Campus Center venues) as the coffee stands in the library will not be open on Saturday. The primary meeting room will be UL 1126, at ground level as you enter the building. We have ordered box lunches to be delivered mid-day—please let me know if you need a vegetarian option so I can be sure we have enough of those. We will provide an afternoon break service so you don’t have to leave the building to forage. Both the box lunches and afternoon break are sponsored by the IUPUI Senior Advisor to the Chancellor for Academic Planning and Evaluation.
Saturday dinner will be on your own, but we will have a short list of recommended downtown restaurants in your meeting materials to help you decide. We’ll have a sign-up sheet to facilitate organizing small groups with common interests and expect to be able to round up enough cars to get people to their chosen destinations.

Hosted By
Inter/National Coalition for Electronic Portfolio Research
The Inter/National Coaliton for Electronic Portfolio Research convenes research/practitioners to study the impact of eportfolios on student learning and educational outcomes. Each year ten institutions selected through an application process constitute a three-year cohort. Each campus works on an individual project that asks "What learning is taking place as a function of electronic portfolios?" and "How do we know?"
